      Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about aquatic physiotherapy,
rehabilitation programmes, treatment processes, and services at AquaCentric Therapy.

What is aquatic physiotherapy and how does it work?

Aquatic physiotherapy is a specialised form of rehabilitation performed in water, using buoyancy and resistance to support safe, effective movement. It helps reduce pain and improves mobility through guided therapeutic exercises.

What are the benefits of aquatic therapy?

Aquatic therapy in a warm pool offers several benefits compared to land-based physiotherapy. The warmth and buoyancy of the water help reduce pain and muscle tightness, make movement easier, improve fitness and cardiovascular function, and support the recovery of skills that may be difficult to practise on land. It can be particularly beneficial for individuals who find conventional land-based physiotherapy challenging.

      Do you teach Swimming?

Our pools are used only for therapeutic rehabilitation, not swimming lessons. Non-swimmers are welcome and will be fully supported during their sessions.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit will include a consultation with a physiotherapist lasting around 45 to 60 minutes. It will involve a detailed assessment to understand your condition. Based on this evaluation, the therapist will identify key concerns and design a personalised rehabilitation programme for you.

What types of interventions may I receive?

The interventions you receive will depend on your therapist’s assessment of your condition. Most treatment plans include a combination of land-based (Ability Garden) and aquatic rehabilitation, along with therapeutic exercises and training for daily activities at home and work.

Who can benefit from AquaCentric’s hydrotherapy treatment?

Individuals recovering from injury, surgery, neurological conditions, or chronic pain can benefit from hydrotherapy. It is also suitable for those who find land-based physiotherapy challenging.
